Seminar

You are invited to a seminar hosted by Professor Richard Lamming of Manchester Business School and including senior industrial speakers. The seminar will challenge the expectation of the Supply Chain function to reach well beyond their typical remit and will explore the opportunities to fundamentally transform the value delivered. Professor Lamming will be providing some new insight and thinking on Supply Chain transformation which will not only challenge but also identify the practical steps organisations can take in order to develop their transformational journey.
These challenges will be complemented by the real life experiences from senior industry leaders in delivering procurement and supply chain transformation.

Professor Richard Lamming:
Richard is recognised as an international leading thinker in contemporary developments in strategic sourcing, supply chain relationships, innovation and sustainability in supply. He has an engineering background and had practical experience of purchasing in the manufacturing sector before becoming an academic in the 1980s.

Richard's doctoral work focused on innovation in manufacturing supply chains and his research at MIT led to the development of the supply concepts associated with lean production. For twelve years he was Professor of Purchasing and Supply Management in the School of Management at the University of Bath, where he was founder and first Director of the Centre for Research in Strategic Purchasing and Supply (CRiSPS).

For eight years he was Dean of two Business Schools in the UK (at the Universities of Southampton and Exeter) before returning to his subject as a Visiting Professor at Manchester Business School in the UK. He now teaches MBA/master classes, provides management development, and presents keynotes around the world, while conducting research and publishing with a wide network of academics and practitioners.
He has been a Non-Executive of Vendigital since the company’s origins in 2000.
